Stanford Savoyards presents a Star Trek and Doctor Who fandom inspired Patience by Gilbert & Sullivan.
Sci fi fandom and cosplay are satirized in this clever musical comedy entertainment including lyrics and costumes inspired by multiple incarnations of both series. Bunthorne (cosplaying as Spock) is worshipped by maidens posing as Trekkies to gain his attention, but he holds an unrequited love for Patience. A rival Doctor Who fan, Grosvenor (cosplaying as the 11th Doctor), falls in love with her, too. Who wins her heart–the Trekkie or the Whovian?
Join the cosplay fun and come in Star Trek or Doctor Who costumes to receive a free treat during intermission (while supplies last).
$30 general admission
$15 senior (Stanford staff/faculty)

Patience Trivia and Meet the Cast & Staff
Angela: Ah, Patience, if you have never loved, you have never known true happiness!
Patience: But the truly happy always seem to have so much on their minds. The truly happy never seem quite well.
Lady Angela is played by Elizabeth Corson who starred as Aline in The Sorcerer, Stanford Savoyards 2013 Spring production. Debuting with the Savoyards in the role of Patience is Diane Squires, a veteran opera singer and teacher in the Bay Area.
Diane debuted as a high school student in the chorus with Lyric Theatre and continues to perform with Lyric, as well as Mission Opera, Solo Opera, North Bay Opera and West Bay Opera. She has performed in over twenty languages including two that are fictional (Klingon, High Elvish) and has been heard as a soloist in five different countries. She had a featured role in Jarvis Conservatory’s internationally telecast production of La Rosa del Azafran. In 2007, Diane won first place in the aria division at the National Association of Teachers of Singing Festival. In addition to teaching and performing opera, Diane enjoys musical theatre and Celtic music.
Transitioning to backstage from her recent performances with Stanford Savoyards in The Mikado and The Sorcerer, Jean Doten is both Stage Manager and Assistant to the Music Director for Patience.
An oboist, singer, and musicologist with degrees from Cincinnati Conservatory and Harvard, Jean is a retired music teacher. Her performance experience spans soloing with the Cincinnati Symphony to choral performances in Carnegie Hall and Notre Dame de Paris.
