Happy Birthday TWO you, Arthur & Heather
Happy Birthday Arthur Sullivan!
Happy Birthday Producer Heather Baumrucker!
It’s a good omen, right, when your G&S show producer is born on the same day as the composer?
Stanford Savoyards production of Patience is the kind of show that resonates with a variety of people: cosplayers, Trekkies, Whovians, G&S fans. Director Doreen Finkelstein commented, “...when Patience first came out in 1881, it was immensely popular; in fact, it was a bigger hit than either HMS Pinafore or Pirates of Penzance.” She wanted to “...update the show by replacing aestheticism with something that would be recognizable to us in 2014.”
Enter our cast of cosplayers emulating the well-known characters of Star Trek: Spock, Guinan, 7 of 9, the Borg Queen and of Doctor Who: the Eighth and Eleventh Doctors, Amy Pond, a Weeping Angel, a Dalek just to name a few.
You do not want to miss the extraordinary costumes in this show!

Patience Trivia and Meet the Cast
Joanne Newman portrays Lady Jane, who utters, “Still, there is a cobwebby grey velvet, with a tender bloom like cold gravy, which, made Betazoid 24th century, trimmed with Klingon leather and Vulcan lace, and surmounted with something Delta Quadrant -- it matters not what -- would at least be Star Trek Voyager!”
Patience is Joanne’s 4th consecutive appearance with Stanford Savoyards (HMS Pinafore: The Next Generation, The Sorcerer, The Mikado). Joanne has trained in the Meisner Method and come up the ranks of summer stock back east (Brunswick Music Theatre, Williamstown Theater Festival), performed with National Lyric Opera, sung in a Bay Area country western band, and founded an improvisational theater troupe.
