Future Projects

The moment for undertaking such an initiative could not be more urgent in light of our faltering economy and growing unemployment, the spectacular rise in inequality, and an emerging interest among political and intellectual opinion leaders in forging new poverty and inequality policy that addresses these harsh realities. The Collaborative Initiative will tap the vast intellectual resources of both institutions, offer trans-continental reach, and leverage the combined convening power of both institutions to offer a national stage for not only studying the problems of poverty, social mobility, and opportunity in America but also influencing how those problems are attacked and solved...

We hope to encourage a wide-ranging dialogue that extends beyond the gap between rich and poor to include the problems of economic insecurity, the challenge of social cohesion in an increasingly diverse society, and ultimately, the quality of American democracy.
