CCTV Movie Channel


Zhang Ying, Executive Producer at CCTV6 (China Central Television Movie Channel) in Beijing, China arrived at Stanford January 2012 for 12 months to conduct research on innovation in and sustainable development of cultural transmission, particularly as it applies to knowledge exchange between Chinese and Western cultures during a period of cultural globalization. Specifically, she plans to interview Stanford researchers in order to comparatively study the Chinese and Western cultures, and analyze the cultural impacts on decision-making and collaboration in a global environment.

Most recently in 2011, Ying was a Visiting Fellow at USC’s East Asian Studies Center where she focused her research on culture and modern media management and development.

Ying has worked previously at the CCTV-10 Science and Education Channel and also the CCTV-6 Movie Channel. She is presently an Executive Editor for the China Movie Report – one of China’s most popular entertainment news programs. She was also the Executive Producer for the 29th and 30th China Hundred Flowers Film Awards, and 26th China Golden Rooster Film Awards.

Ying earned her B.A. degree in Journalism from the China School of Journalism in 2000, and her M.A. degree in Film Studies from the Communication University of China (formerly the Beijing Broadcasting Institute) in 2004.
