As an important part of our educational outreach, SEAM sends teams of volunteers to elementary schools in East Palo Alto to teach the One Hen: Microfinance for Kids program.

Over the course of 5-6 sessions, volunteers explore the book (One Hen: How One Small Loan Made a Big Difference), interact with the website (www.onehen.org), and have fun working with kids, all the while making a lasting impact in their lives. The aim of this outreach is to use a microfinance-based curriculum to expose children to global issues and instill values of global citizenship, personal initiative, and giving back.

See the One Hen volunteer site for more information, and don’t forget to check out www.onehen.org to get a taste of what One Hen is all about!
