Programs

The Stanford Red Barn offers many opportunities for interested persons to ride horses and improve horsemanship through a variety of programs. Browse through the following pages to learn more and get involved.

programs-team Stanford Equestrian Team

The Stanford Equestrian Team, based at Stanford University’s historic Red Barn Equestrian Center, has between 35-45 active members riding Hunt Seat Equitation, Dressage and Western Horsemanship. The team is actively involved in all aspects of horsemanship and care and competes in Zone 8, Region 1 of the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association Zone 8. The team boasts numerous Regional and Zone Champions and consistently places in the Top 10 at National Championships.

programs-riding Riding Academy

Community members and Stanford-affiliates (students, faculty and staff) can join a group lesson or have private instruction as they begin or improve their English riding skills under the tutelage of our well-respected trainers.

programs-interscholastic Red Barn Interscholastic Teams

The Red Barn’s fun, educational and successful High School and Middle School teams (Red Barn & Woodside) train together at Stanford and compete at IEA shows throughout California.

programs-pe Physical Education

Available to Stanford students, faculty, and staff. Geared towards beginner through to advanced beginning riders in English and Western, as well as in unmounted Horsemanship classes. Classes meet once a week and enrollment is limited.

programs-precollege The Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Program

The Stanford Pre-Collegiate Summer Program offers intensive sessions available to high school students who would like to explore the world of collegiate riding. Each day includes a mounted riding lesson with one of the coaches of the Stanford Equestrian Team, an unmounted educational session and a fitness activity.

Guided by our experienced facilitators, the Red Barn’s unmounted leadership programs are custom designed to inspire individuals and build teams.
