The Wire viewing dinner series 2 on 5/09/10

Hey all,

You are cordially invited to watch The Wire on a weekly basis from the beginning, starting this Friday at 7 pm. We will have dinner, including vegetarian options (if you let me know in advance.) The Wire is the best show ever made (I should know - I watch a LOT of TV), and it grapples with the themes of institutions, social injustice, police brutality, addiction, gun violence, and education. Great - I've reduced the best show ever into a series of boring adjectives. Seriously, every critic has rated it in his/her top 5 of all time.

Do you know who Obama's favorite TV show character is? Omar, one of The Wire's greatest: he's a gay drug dealer who robs other drug dealers. In other words: badass.

Let me know if you can make it, so I can plan dinner accordingly (chicken/veggie stirfry with rice.) We will change the time to Saturday or Sunday in the upcoming weeks. Our plan is to watch two episodes per week (which will take about 2-2.5 hours when we include dinner).

Location: EV. More details later as you RSVP.
