When the Loss of a Finger is Considered a "Minor" Injury Colorado Railroad Accidents, July 1884-June 1885

Data file:
Colorado Accidents 1885.csv

Description:

This is the original table of Colorado railroad accidents from July 1884-September 1885 as found in the primary source (see below). The data used in the paper and visualizations is a simplified version of this table so that the locations of the accidents were easier to match in ArcGIS and classify into categories. A copy of the simplified data is also available. The ID column has been added by the Spatial History Lab, and is not part of the original data.

Origin of the Data:

Railroad Commissioner of the State of Colorado. First Annual Report of the Railroad Commissioner of the State of Colorado, for Year Ending June 30, 1885. Denver, Colorado: Collier & Cleaveland Lith. Co., State Printers, 1886. Various pages (each railroad company showed their accidents from the past 1.5 years in their respective annual reports).
