Software on Unix switching to Linux: Stata, SPSS, SAS
Stanford is phasing out Solaris systems and switching to Linux.
If you use statistical software such as Stata, SPSS, and SAS remotely using an x-windows emulator such as VNC, please set up your server at one of the Linux machines such as hedge, vine, bramble (see here for details).
xstata (the x-windows version of Stata) no longer works on wisdom, power, and other Solaris 8 machines. SAS has been experiencing font display problems on the Solaris system as well.

Stata/SE upgraded to version 10.0 on Stanford Unix
Stata/SE upgraded to 10.0
(Statistics Analysis Package)
Stata is an environment for manipulating and analyzing data using statistical and graphical methods. Stata is an integrated package - not a collection of separate modules. You can intersperse data management, statistical, and graphical commands.
The above is taken from the Stata website.
See http://www.stata.com/stata10/ for details.
