Auditions for the Stanford Symphony Orchestra (SSO) and Stanford Philharmonia (SP) are open to all members of the Stanford community (i.e., students, faculty and staff). Although Stanford students are given priority, we also welcome musicians from the local and non-Stanford community.
There is no fee for audition. Upon joining, a participation fee of $80 may apply per quarter for local and non-Stanford community members. The fee will help offset some of the program expenses (i.e., facilities charges, technical services, and honoraria for guest artists).
Auditions for the Winter Quarter will be held on Sunday, December 6th, from 1-4 pm. To sign up for an audition, click here.
Auditions will take place in Braun Music Center, room 121 (except for percussion players, please contact email@example.com for location).
The Stanford Symphony Orchestra (SSO) is the largest on-campus student music organization, supported by the Music Department and the Associated Students of Stanford University (ASSU). Every year, SSO attracts a diverse group of graduate and undergraduate students from across campus, ranging from computer science and aeronautical engineers to English and History majors. Rehearses are on Mondays and Thursdays from 7-9:20 pm.
The Stanford Philharmonia is a select chamber orchestra comprised of about 45 performers. The orchestra offers accomplished student musicians an opportunity to perform a rich repertoire of traditional and contemporary works in an intimate and professional setting. Rehearses are on Tuesdays from 7-9:30 pm.
