Audition Information

Auditions for the Stanford Summer Symphony Orchestra will take place on Friday, June 23 and Saturday, June 24!

Current SSO and SP members do not need to audition; however, to secure your place in the orchestra, you must email Nicholas Hersh (nhersh61@gmail.com) by Friday, June 9.

Auditions for the Stanford Summer Symphony Orchestra are open to all members of the Stanford community (i.e., students, faculty and staff). Although Stanford students are given priority, we also welcome musicians from the local and non-Stanford community.

There is no fee for audition. Upon joining, a participation fee of $80 may apply per quarter for local and non-Stanford community members. The fee will help offset some of the program expenses (i.e., facilities charges, technical services, and honoraria for guest artists).

Each audition will be 10 minutes long and consists of a solo work of your choice, as well as chosen orchestral excerpts. (All of the required orchestral excerpts can be found here.)

Auditions for the 2017-2018 season will be help in September.  If you would like to be notified when audition sign-ups are open, click here.

If you have any questions regarding audition scheduling or if you would like to audition but can’t make any of the slots, please email Linh Tran at lttran@stanford.edu. General inquiries can always be addressed to orchestras@stanford.edu. Thanks, and we look forward to seeing you soon!
