Although they are most often seen in fall and winter, when flocks fly between bayside foraging areas and foothill roost sites, local populations have recently increased dramatically. The first breeding on campus was reported in 1999. The nest shown here, still evident above the light fixture on the corner of Green Library, produced five young in 2000. Will Green Library¹s brood remain on campus? These large, vocal birds are among the easiest to notice on campus, so with enough people watching and reporting, it should be possible to keep track of nesting pairs. It's now 2015 and birds are still returning to nest at Green Library.
