The photo was taken about 30 years after the preceding aerial, showing a mowed--but divided --Oval. The area surrounding it contains more trees and the open space beyond the central campus is slightly diminished. Note: Lake Lagunita in upper right [ *

At about this time (1954), the updated record of commonly seen campus birds still lists 71 species, and notes:

"...bird life at Stanford as described in the text has changed but little
since 1931.However, Western robins [American Robins]now nest regularly on the campus."
