At the end of October, the total number of simultaneous users for SciFinder Scholar/SciFinder on the web increased from 8 to 11. Currently, 8 users can search the software or client version (SciFinder Scholar) at one time and 3 users can search the web version at one time. How many simultaneous users to allocate for each interface will be reviewed regularly and will be modified based on usage data, functionality, and performance.
You can either download sfs2007a.dmg from the Stanford server or do a “quick fix” for the earlier Mac version of SFS2007.
The SciFinder Scholar 2007 for Mac OS X Leopard (10.5) software (sfs2007a.dmg), released in May 2008, is a re-coded version that will run on Leopard (Mac OS 10.5) without using Rosetta. This version of SciFinder Scholar 2007 is compatible with Intel and PowerPC processors and is also backward compatible with Mac OS 10.3 and 10.4.

Information about applying a “quick fix” to pre-May 2008 version of SFS2007 for the Mac
Licensed resources are for the non-profit educational use of Stanford University. Use of these resources is governed by copyright law and individual license agreements. Systematic downloading, distributing, or retaining substantial portions of information is prohibited.
As you may not be aware of what constitutes systematic downloading or retaining substantial portions, here are a few examples:
| SciFinder: | Maximum of 5,000 records can be stored by an individual user |
|---|---|
| eJournals: | Downloading all articles from a single journal issue is considered systematic downloading. Downloading a number of articles within a short period of time is also considered to be systematic downloading (e.g. 20 articles / minute). |
| eBooks: | Maximum is usually one chapter from an eBook. Third-party suppliers of eBooks often have a maximum of less than 35 pages. |
Please note that exceeding the limits result in you being blocked and sometimes the entire campus being blocked from using all resources from an individual information provider.
When the terms of an agreement are exceeded, the Libraries are contacted by the information provider and asked to investigate why a breach occurred and what will be to insure that it won’t happen again before they restore access.
