On 11/8/14, Team HBV presented a class on Hepatitis B at Stanford Splash, an enrichment program for students in grades 7-12 that aims to help students explore new subject areas and interests. The presentation was tailored to students from middle school who were interested in medicine. The presentation was a 50 minute lecture very similar to a biology/virology lecture in college. The class was at capacity, with about 20 students in attendance. During the presentation, we explained the prevalence of HBV, described the disease mechanisms, and discussed possible ways to be involved in HBV outreach.
