About Noriyuki's research on Spin Transistors:

The scaling down of semiconductor devices has almost reached its physical limitations and will soon no longer be profitable due to increasing power consumption and production costs. Thus, the spin transistor is a promising candidate for future semiconductor devices, because it has new features such as spin-dependent output and non-volatility. Spin injection, detection and transport are the key factors for realizing spin transistors. In Noriyuki's research, a ferromagnetic material/oxide/semiconductor structure is used as a spin injector and detector, since this structure might solve the conductivity mismatch problem.
