Stanford 10′s Tournament

The Stanford Women’s Rugby team hosted its annual 10s tournament on October 25th, and once again it was a success. 18 sides came out for a fun and competitive day of rugby. On the women’s side, 12 teams battled it out for the top spot: two club teams, SF Fog and Davis Double Deckers, and 9 college teams, Chico, UCLA, UCSD, Humboldt, Santa Clara and two sides each from Cal and Stanford, in addition to a Stanford Alumni team. The men’s side featured a Stanford GSB team, a Berkeley MBA team, as well as two sides each from SJSU and Stanford.

After an intense day of competition, the Stanford GSB team and SJSU Blue competed in the men’s final, with the GSB taking home the trophy, thanks to superb play from MVPs Ryan Rennaker (prop) and Tim Lew (scrumhalf). For the women, SF Fog and Davis Double Deckers reached the final match, and Davis Double Deckers won a close and well-played game. Kristen Driscoll (lock) of SF Fog and Mary Triantafyllou (flyhalf) of the Davis Double Deckers, were named MVPs on the women’s side. Overall the tournament was a great success, and we are looking forward to the 2009 10s tournament!
