Stanford Beats Gauchos in Conference Playoff Opener

Stanford showed great form in the first round of the Pacific Mountain Conference, defeating UC Santa Barbara.   Stanford came out on fire in the first half, running in nine tries, including four each from wing Dani McDonald and center Madda Wilson.   While the pace slowed in the second period, Stanford was able to keep up the pressure, crossing the line seven additional times, while preserving the shutout.  McDonald would finish with six tries, wing Chelsea Harris would add two, and seven different Stanford players would score on the day.  Flyhalf Nikki Richardson added six conversions, going 6/10, and replacement fullback Valerie Chen added three conversions.  When the final whistle blew, Stanford was victorious 98-0.

Next Up: Stanford (8-1/6-0) will play Washington State in the second round of the Pacific Mountain Conference Playoffs on Sunday March 29th at 3:30pm at Steuber Rugby Field.  In Saturday’s first round of the Pacific Mountain Conference Playoffs Washington State (#2 North Division) was victorious 37-22 over Cal (#3 West Division).
