Map of the World (1743)

This map offers us a view of the world through the traveler's 18th century vision.  According to the author, this map was "Drawn from the best Authorities and regulated by Astronomical Observations."  Most of the areas labeled are discussed and described in The World in Miniature, perhaps with the exception of some of the smaller islands.  The author's scope of the globe is incredible -- he describes, to varying degrees, the geographical, cultural, social, and scientific aspects of each country.
