Bio

    Hi, thanks for visiting Alex Song's site. I am a postdoctoral fellow in Prof. Shanhui Fan's group at Stanford University. My current research interests are in the broad area of light-matter interactions in photonic structures. Some of the ongoing projects include passive cooling and topological photonics. I am also interested in optical devices based on 2D materials. Please check my publications page for recent updates.

    During my PhD journey, I worked with Prof. Claire F. Gmachl at Princeton University. My thesis work involves both theoretical and experimental studies on semiconductor quantum structures. My experimental work focused on novel quantum cascade light sources and photodetectors in III-nitride materials. On the theoretical side, I have studied intersubband quantum structures especially with random interfaces using non-equilibrium Green's functions and other theoretical techniques. I have worked on mid-IR solid state lasers and negative refraction metamaterials as well.
