Research Interests

Dr. Whittemore has published extensively on the epidemiology of site-specific cancers, and on improved statistical methods for the design and analysis of cancers of the prostate, ovary, and breast. Her current research focuses on the genetic epidemiology of cancers of the prostate, ovary, and breast. As the recipient of an Outstanding Investigator Grant from the U.S. National Cancer Institute, she is concerned with improved statistical methods for the design and conduct of studies involving hereditary predisposition and modifiable lifestyle characteristics in the etiologies of these cancers. This work has earned her the Eighth American Association for Cancer Research-American Cancer Society Award for Research Excellence in Cancer Epidemiology and Prevention.
