High Earth Orbit explains how to do geographic queries with Leopard. Two things come in handy for this: 1. Spotlight stores information about lat/long in kMDItemLatitude
and kMDItemLongitude
. 2. With the appropriate Query Expression Syntax you can use the > and < operators to search for ranges. GeoSpotlight allows you to search without a box and add other Spotlight predicates to search by, say, keyword, title, city, time, etc.
