The School of Library and Information Science  at Indiana University  and the Information Visualization Lab have published an online exhibit The Places & Spaces: Mapping Science
to demonstrate the power of maps. From their site: "An initial theme of this
exhibit is to compare and contrast first maps of our entire
planet with the first maps of all of science as we know it."
