Blog Account Process

1. If someone wants a blog, they must fill out the form.

Users who want to sign up for a SLS Blog Account need to fill out a form here: http://blogs.law.stanford.edu/sign-up-form/

(This form is maintained here: http://formbuilder.stanford.edu and its called Blog Account Request

In order to edit that form you need admin rights to this form: http://www.stanford.edu/dept/law/forms/slsblogrequest.fb

Every time a user enters their information in that form, an email gets sent to webteam and its saved in the database. )

2. Make the Blog Images

The Nathan Abbott template (the black one) and the Minimalist template (the all white one) requires images that need to be made individually.

They look like this:

Download the psds of the images you'll need here.

Theres 2 versions for the black one depending on if the title is one line or two lines.

Name them the same name as the blog. For example, if the url of the blog is http://blogs.law.stanford.edu/roadmaptojustice/

name the images: roadmaptojustice.jpg

NOTE: Both the white and black versions needs to have the same file name. So save them in separate folders.

Once you make the jpgs upload them here:

Black one: /dynamic_branch/prod/wp-content/themes/default/images/logos/

White one: /dynamic_branch/prod/wp-content/themes/sls-abbott/images/logos/

4. Fine tune the templates

Currently the users get 3 templates to choose from.

The Sandstone template needs to be tweaked on start up.

In the Dashboard, click on Appearance. Themes.

Click on Sandstone Court and choose it.

Then in Appearance > Widgets drag the following widgets to the sidebar

Pages

Categories

Recent Comments

This will make the alignment of that template look better.

5. Add the API key

On the main dashboard page there will be a warning that Akismet needs the API key. Click on it and add this: fd81de3b99ee

Akismet manages our spam but the only way it can work is if we enter that API key.

6. Tell Irina the blog is ready for the images to be linked up.

Remember the images you made in step 2? Email Irina and tell her the URL of the blog and tell her the images have been uploaded and are ready to be linked up.

She will then update the backend so the images show up in the right blog.
