I have very eclectic music tastes.I am very fond of musical theater and Celtic music, but I'll listen to just about anything but rap and country music. Lately I've been going through a goth/new age phase in what I've been buying, things like Dead can dance, Lisa Gerrard and assorted compilations of gothic type music. (I actually think I've probably been driving my roommates nuts *grin*)
Some of my favorite performers/musicals are:
Heather Alexander: You've probably never heard of her but she definitly deserves to be at the top of the list! She's a local Celtic performer who performs 2-3 shows a year. For info about her check out her webpage and company, SeaFire Productions.
Rent: One of my current favorite musicals, I saw a production of this over the summer. It was fabulous and I urge anyone with the least interest in musical theater to catch it if they can!
Sharon Knight: Another Celtic performer, one who seems to have vanished off the face of the earth after her first album :-( I'd love to know what she's doing now!
Kate Price: Yet another Celtic performer that a friend recently hooked me on. Her music is mellow, intermixed with very energetic pieces that make me want to dance.
Loreena Mckennit: For want of a better definition a 'new age' performer, that most of you would prolly recognize if you heard her song "Mummer's Dance" since it got a lot of radio play. I had the privledge of seeing her in concert about a year ago and was blown away :-)
I could probably list a lot more, but then I'd be here all night *grin* Other than that I like the usual assortment of goofy 80's music, some alternative music, filk music, and some fairly odd stuff that defies classification :-)
