Rainbow was born Isabella Robspiere in the garden district of New Orleans. Her mother, a noted trance medium in her younger days, married her father young and died giving birth to Isabella. Isabella was always a strange child, given to having many imaginary friends. Her father, though he doted on her, found this sort of behavior disturbing and sent her to numerous child psychologists (in truth, Isabella had inherited her mother’s gifts for dealing with spirits, but due to her father’s disapproval and the urgings of many doctors, she soon began to deny what her senses told her.)

Her childhood was largely friendless, many of the children got spooked by the way she always seemed to be watching things that they couldn’t see. In high school, she was always a loner for the most part despite her good looks, until she started hanging out with the punk/goth elements. She did fairly well in school, well enough to get a small scholarship, and finally getting into to college…studying psychology.

College went well though she didn’t have many friends. She was near graduating when the ward that she interned in got a strange new patient. While caring for him, she went mildly insane and when she woke up she was Rainbow. Drinking from the doctor that was standing by her bedside, she went off into the world.
