Overview and Meaning

Inactive behaviors involve the absence of movement. More broadly speaking, mouse behavior typically occurs in general cycles where one top-level classification of behavior predominates, as follows:


Inactivity is a top-level classification where the animal is still, and includes:

  1. Sleep
  2. Still and Alert


Inactive behaviors are typically an individual behavior, representing rest or vigilance. However the variant group sleeping can also be considered as an affiliative interaction in assays of social behavior.
