Hi! My name is Kellen Vu.

About Me

Hi! I'm a junior at Stanford University, pursuing a major in Human Biology and a minor in Computer Science. In 2018, I was selected by the Arizona Republic as one of Arizona's 18 highest achieving teenagers. In the future, I plan to enter the medical field as a neurologist.

My interests lie at the intersection of health, technology, and people. From 2017 to 2019, I worked as a Research Assistant at the Barrow Neurological Institute, performing data analysis to identify electrophysiological biomarkers of Alzheimer's disease.

Since 2020, I have been working as an Undergraduate Researcher and Computer Scientist in the Raymond neurobiology lab at Stanford, where I study the neural circuitry behind motor skill learning. Through these experiences, I fell in love with research and discovered my passion for work that is challenging, hands-on, and applicable.

In 2019, I became a Habilitation Worker for Arion Care Solutions. This position taught me how to foster meaningful practitioner-patient relationships, and helped me develop the interpersonal skills needed to effectively serve others. I now strive to use these skills to advocate for people's needs, whether it's by teaching English to ESL custodial staff or promoting alcohol safety on Stanford's campus.

I began my YouTube channel in 2017 with a self-arranged medley of songs from my favorite movie, La La Land. Since then, I have been uploading a variety of content, from piano covers to travel vlogs to skits.

In 2018,  I was the co-writer, editor, and poster artist for an award-winning short film shot in 48 hours for the Independent Feature Project Phoenix.

In May 2020, I independently wrote, directed, and edited a short film that won second place in Stanford's Poetry Into Film festival.

In Fall 2020, I became the Executive Producer and Co-Host of an online dating show called Love Is Blind Stanford.

In 2019, I was the lead programmer for my team in Stanford's health++ hackathon. Our project won the Global Oncology Prize.

In Spring 2020, I took a class on video game design and generated this portfolio of Unity-based games. I also released a MIDI-compatible rhythm game called Note Ninja in collaboration with Bradley Immel.

In January 2021, I collaborated with Kyle Nguyen to create a video game called Gone Viral in 48 hours. It won first place in Discord Jam #5!

I have been playing the piano since I was five. Since then, I have also picked up the guitar and the clarinet. In eleventh grade, my friends and I started a band called The Sequels. We wrote songs about our favorite books, from The Great Gatsby to The Catcher In the Rye. We were later named by Phoenix Magazine as one of the best local bands in the Phoenix Valley! Check out our album here.

From digital art to posters, I love expressing myself visually. Below are a few examples of my work. Check out more of my portfolio here!
