Learning Assistants (LAs) provide an enhanced learning experience for students enrolled in active learning introductory STEM courses, such as Physics 41E (Extended). LAs facilitate collaborative group learning in class, mentor a small group of students, and provide individual feedback for their mentees.
Physics 41E is an 5-unit version of Physics 41 (4 units) for students with little or no high school physics or calculus. Course topics are identical to Physics 41.
LAs receive a $1,700 stipend. Time commitment is 10.5 hrs/week for 41E plus enrollment in the one-unit Physics 194 LA training seminar which meets 1.5 hrs/week. Applications due October 19th. Late applications will be considered if positions are still open.
