Tsintzina

Tsintzina

Tsintzina is a lovely village located in the Parnon Mountains of the Peloponnesus in Greece. Only since the year 2000 has the town been accessible  by paved road. In the 19th and the first half of the twentieth centuries, the residents lived in the summer in Tsintzina and the winter down near Sparta in Goritsa.

It used to be an agricultural village where wheat was grown up in the surrounding mountains in rocky soil and sheep and goats were herded. Two attached pictures, one taken in 2003 and the other around 1900 show how the land has become much greener with the elimination of herding and farming.
