Search Fields

Domain Name - String
If the Domain name is not fully qualified, NetDB will search across all domains.

Example:
Search for Domain name "stanford"
Search for Domain Name = "stanford". Since the Domain name is not fully qualified, the results would include "stanford.edu", "stanford.org" and "stanford.com".

Example:
Search for all Stanford hosted Domains that are not .edu
Search for Domain Name = "not *.edu"

Limited Domain - Radio Button

Delegated Domain - Radio Button

Nameserver - String
Example:
Find Domains served by AWS DNS servers.
Nameserver = "*awsdns*"

Use as Name - String
Example:
Find all Domains that a User in the group Networking can use as a name.
Search for Use as Name = "Networking"

Assign Names - String
Example:
Find all Domains that a User in the group Networking can assign names in.
Search for Assign Names = "Networking"

Group - String
To modify a Domain, Users must be in the same Group.

Example:
Find all Domains that a User in Group English can modify
Search for Group = "English"

Administrator - String
Domain Administrators can be an individual person or an Admin Team. To search for a person, use either SUNet ID or full name. For best results, use the unique SUNet ID. To search for Admin Team, use the Admin Team field. Only one of the three fields can be used.

Example:
Find Domains administered by the Admin Teams DCG and DSG
Search for Admin Team = "D?G"

Comment - String
Example:
Search for Domains with comment mentioning "special" and "blue"
Search for comment = "*special*blue*".

Modified By - String
Modified By is the last User to change this record. Search by either SUNet ID or full name. For best results, use the unique SUNet ID. Note that only one field can be used at a time.

Example:
Find records modified by either John Doe(jodoe) or Jane Doe(jadoe)
Search for "Modified By SUNet ID = jodoe or jadoe"
or "Modified By Name = Jane Doe or John Doe"

Modified Date - Date
Modified Date is the last time the record was modified.

Example:
Search for records modified on January 1, 2000.
On or After = 1/1/2000
Before = 1/2/2000

Created By - String
Created By is the User who created a record. Search by either SUNet ID or full name. For best results, use the unique SUNet ID. Note that only one field can be used at a time.

Example:
Find records created by either John Doe(jodoe) or Jane Doe(jadoe)
Search for "Created By SUNet ID = jodoe or jadoe"
or "Created By Name = Jane Doe or John Doe"

Created Date - Date
Created Date is the date that a record was created.

Example:
Search for records created on January 1, 2000.
On or After = 1/1/2000
Before = 1/2/2000


General Examples

1. Search for all domains with "stanford" in the name but not in the networking group.
    Search with these parameters:
  • Domain Name = *stanford*
  • Group = not networking
