Tables and Illustrations
  • PREPARATION OF TABLES, FIGURES, AND ILLUSTRATIONS. All tables, figures, illustrations, etc., must be "camera-ready." That is, they must be cleanly typed or artistically prepared so that they can be used exactly as they are. The publisher will NOT do manipulations of illustrations. Illustrations (tables, line drawings, halftones, photos, charts, graphs, etc.) should be clean originals or digital files. Digital files are recommended for highest quality reproduction and should follow these guidelines:
  • 300 dpi or higher
  • Submitted as separate files (one illustration, table, etc., per file), not embedded in text files
  • Sized to fit on journal page
  • Illustrations in EPS, TIFF, or PSD format

  • Tables and charts in Microsoft Word format
  • If submitting art on paper, each figure, table, illustration, etc., should be prepared on a separate sheet of paper. Always use black ink and professional drawing instruments. Graphs, charts, and other illustrative matter should be in black and white, not color. The publisher can accept color digital photographs and screen shots; they will be converted to black and white with some loss of quality. Do not submit color graphs and other non-text material where the contrast among colors is important.
  • On the back of each item submitted on paper, write "SEEIR" and your article title lightly in pencil, so they will not get misplaced. (Please do not write on the front of art.) In the text, skip extra lines and indicate where the items are to be placed. Illustrative matter is considered part of the acceptable manuscript and remains with the publisher for use in additional printings.
