As a sociolinguist, I'm interested in the social meaning of linguistic variation. My dissertation is based on an ethnography of a public arts high school in California and explores the linguistic and embodied practices used by adolescents in the construction of affective style.

My advisors are Penny Eckert and Rob Podesva.
