Yen-Hsiang Wang is currently a graduate student at Stanford Bioengineering, working in the Smolke Lab. As a synthetic biologist, Yen-Hsiang is interested in developing novel control strategies to regulate biological systems, particularly in applying ideas in dynamic and adaptive control to metabolic engineering. His Ph.D. thesis topic involves designing and implementing complex genetic control systems using synthetic RNA regulators; in particular, he is building a genetic operational amplifier (op-amp) as a proof-of-concept to demonstrate the flexibility and modularity of RNA biological parts. Yen-Hsiang's long-term research goal is to enable guiding and re-directing biological systems to achieve optimality in producing molecule of interest in metabolic engineering.
15% of my life
Yen-Hsiang is an active backpacker and has been to more than 50 places in the world. His next destination is the lighthouse of Ushuaia.
