For
most of you who know me, I am a physician and medical researcher. However,
besides the disciplined professional life, I also have a wilder side. I am a
birder and an amateur photographer. I enjoy being outdoors and spent time doing
wildlife/nature photography. In fact, it has been an important part of my
spiritual life. While I have published some of my photography work in
magazines, newspaper and national park guidebooks, I have never had a truly my
own publication. This personal project is an attempt to link my birder life to
my professional life. I want to use the proceeds from selling this table
calendar to support the Stanford Blood and Marrow Transplantation program and
Stanford Cancer Institute.
The
calendar (6Ó x 8.5Ó) was printed on Light Coated paper using concentric
screening technology with 400 lpi
resolution.
A
Birder and Photographer
There
was no turning back after I learned about bird watching in college. I have been
an avid birder and an amateur photographer for many years. Being able to
witness the beauties of nature has always been an important part of my
spiritual life. The unique challenge of bird photography is what engaged me the
most. While some of my old photos have been published in different national
park guides and magazines in Taiwan, this is the first time I have put together
my artwork for a personal project.
I
decided to make this calendar a project linking my two lives – that of a
cancer physician-scientist, and that of a birder and photographer. I want to
share the images that have given me so much joy and raise money to support what
I care about the most, furthering novel cancer research and improving patient
care.
All of
the proceeds generated from this project will be donated to the Stanford BMT Program
and the Stanford Cancer Institute. You can find more information about our
