CURRENT RESEARCH on Alzheimer's Disease and Related Dementias

The Alzheimer's Disease Core Center (ADCC) is composed of several components, each focusing on a particular aspect of dementia. These components are listed below along with a brief description of some of the research going on in that specific area.
Clinical Assessment Component
This component is responsible for tracking the patient’s medical status, behavior, and general cognitive functioning over time.
Biochemical Component
This component seeks to identify biochemical markers that may potentially be useful in determining diagnosis, predicting prognosis, and ultimately providing insights into better treatments.
Neuropathology Component
The patient and family may desire to have the brain examined after death and donate this organ to medical research on Alzheimer’s Disease.
Clinical Trials
Various studies are under way to look at drugs that could possibly slow the progression of Alzheimer's disease.
