SPAN sites

  • SPAN web site: http://spanlab.stanford.edu/
    • To access the site’s lab-eyes-only section, mouse over the blank area right below the “press” menu option. A new option, “private,” should appear. Click and enter the username and password, which can be obtained from the lab coordinator. You’ll now be able to access many important lab resources, including tasks, questionnaires, protocols, tech reports, drafts, and other documentation.
  • SPAN Psych Account: When you’ve completed programming of an EPrime task, you’ll need to upload your completed task(s), with notes, to the Tasks folder on our Stanford psych account. Once the task is finalized, edit the html so that you can download the task from the web. You may also be asked to write and upload tech reports, questionnaires, et cetera. Be sure to keep the site updated with the most recent files and information!!!
    • To do this, open SecureFX. Connect to psych.stanford.edu. The username is ‘span’; ask the lab coordinator for the password. Then, navigate through the directories as follows: public_html → Private → tasks (or the appropriate subfolder; ‘Private’ indicates the Private area of the SPAN website, so files in here can only be accessed by those who have the username and password)
    • Note there is also a public temporary “tmp” folder inside the public_html directory, for press images, big files that can’t be emailed, etc.: http://www-psych.stanford.edu/~span/tmp/

Adding your paper to PubMed Central

  • Go to the NIH Public Access Manuscript Submission in PubMed Central: http://www.nihms.nih.gov/
    • To upload a manuscript into PMC, you need to first log in.
      • If you have previously submitted an NIH grant, log in with your eRA Commons username and password
      • If you do not have an eRA ID, you can use a My NCBI account (go to PubMed and create one)
    • Once you have logged in, click on Submit a New Manuscript and be prepared to enter the article title and journal name, assign it to an NIH grant, and upload a PDF of the version of the paper that appears or will appear in print.
    • To find the appropriate NIH grant, go to the Crisp database query form (http://crisp.cit.nih.gov/) and type in the PI name
    • Also be sure you have selected an appropriate release delay according to the publisher's policies so as to not void any publication agreement you may have signed.
    • After you have entered in all of the information and uploaded the PDF, it will ask you to view the receipt and OK it.
