James Schmid, GE

Bio

Mr. James Schmid is director of Software Engineering for GE's Global Software Center; responsible for the development and delivery of all Energy software solutions. Previously, Mr. Schmid was principal engineer for GE Energy, and Chief Architect of the Performance and Optimization Software and Engineering division for GE Energy. In these roles, Mr. Schmid drove Agile principles and led initiatives across all software development teams in the Software Solutions Group; provided technical leadership to high risk software development projects; and designed and drove the next generation architecture for the performance and optimization product line. Before joining GE through the company's acquisition of Bently Nevada, LLC, he was a Program Manager for Bently Nevada and was responsible for the development of a closed loop neural model based multi-objective optimization platform. He also was team lead for all decision support and Kn3 Optimization Software programs. Mr. Schmid began his career as a software engineer on the system 1 data acquisition and configuration team at Bently Nevada Corporation. He has 15 years of experience in software engineering and program management. He has published software in the areas of data acquisition and configuration management and has several patents pending in the areas of predictive modeling and multi-objective optimization. Mr. Schmid earned his bachelor's degree in Computer Science from the University of Nevada.
