E145 - Technology Entrepreneurship

Friday, March 23, 2007 from 12:15 - 3:15 PM. Location: 420-041

Final Exam

The goal of the exam is to test your understanding and application of the fundamental concepts taught in E145 - Technology Entrepreneurship. These include key ideas and practices in case analysis along with opportunity analysis, entrepreneurial finance, gathering resources, managing growth, team building, and entrepreneurial thought. The final exam has the duration of 3 hours and will be graded out of 100 points total. The exam is closed book, closed notes. Bring your calculator. Laptops and other high-tech gizmos such as handheld devices are not permitted. You will be asked to write all answers in the exam document. If you are unable to take the exam at the scheduled time, contact Jason Davis by 3/5/07 and include your exam schedule.

The exam will consist of four sections:

Section I (30 points) - Case analysis
Please read and analyze carefully the World Indigo in Appendix B of the Dorf & Byers text book.

Section II (28 points) – Venture Finance
In this section you will be asked to perform venture finance calculations as covered in class, the readings, and workshops.

Section III (18 points) - Short answers
In this section you will be asked questions related to technology entrepreneurship concepts covered in class and in the readings.

Section IV (24 points) - Identifications
In this section you will be asked to provide concise definitions to some of the key terms and ideas which we have covered in the course.

How to Prepare for the Final Exam:
To prepare for the final, review the information contained in the session pages. Make sure you cover the required reading. In addition, review the information in the handouts section. These handouts include session slides, workshop handouts (especially workshops A and B) and Excel spreadsheet models from the Barbara Arneson and Solidworks cases. All these documents will help you in reviewing the concepts of the course.

Yours answers in the exam should be concise (brief, to the point) and decisive (take a clear stand).

We wish you all a good study period and good luck for the exam!
