Course Description

Bioimaging is important for both clinical medicine and medical research. This course will provide an introduction to several of the major imaging modalities, emphasizing a signal processing perspective. The course will start with an introduction to multidimensional signals and systems, including multidimensional Fourier transforms. It will then study projection imaging systems (projection x-ray), backprojection-based systems (computed tomography (CT)), systems that use Fourier encoding (magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), and systems that use beam forming (ultrasound). Prerequisites:  EE 102A, 102B.
