Key Technologies for Future Satellite Communications Systems

Emerging goals for future satellite communications systems include increased capacities, reduced terminal sizes, improved robustness and resistance to interference, enhanced interoperability with terrestrial services, and more efficient, lower cost implementations. These challenges can be met by applying advanced technologies such as adaptive antennas, improved RF/IF circuitry, signal processing, and message switching networking techniques. This presentation contains descriptions of recent developments in several of these key technology areas as well as illustrations of the advantages associated with their use.
