The seminar will be conducted as a series of lectures and invited talks on current trends in computing, communications and information services, and ongoing initiatives for research and open innovation in these areas. Advances in design and deployment of fixed-line and cellular telecommunication infrastructures and emerging industry innovations by software vendors, equipment manufactures, and service providers will be addressed. Topics covered will include cloud computing, open mobile platforms (e.g. Android), service centric architectures, data centers, etc.

Significance of the seminar

The past decade has seen the emergence and steep rise of innovation in service and application industries segments thereby transforming the landscape of research and development beyond just hardware and software. More recently, there has been a drive towards open source platforms which is changing the operational trends for industries in the fixed and mobile telecommunication ecosystem. First hand exposure to such trends in an interactive environment is vital. Through this seminar the students will get the opportunity to share perspectives and learn from speakers coming from diverse technology settings.
