Welcome to 3D Printing for Non-Technical Innovators
4/5 ANNOUNCEMENT: We are now in our second week of class. Thank-you for the great turn-out for this new class! Guests and auditors are always welcome to drop in on our Wednesday lectures.
ME 137 (237 for graduate students) is a new Stanford University engineering course being taught Spring quarter of 2016. The purpose of the class is to teach the practical knowledge and skills needed to design and fabricate objects using additive manufacturing (popularly known as 3D Printing). This class is intended for innovators interested in creating physical parts. The course material is not targeted towards ME Design or Product Design majors. We actively encourage students from non-technical majors and engineering fields outside of ME design to apply.
Student projects might include a product mock-up for a business pitch, a custom collection tool for biology research, anatomical models for surgical training, an artifact replica for a museum exhibit, architectural models, art pieces, etc.
The class is being offered as both a once a week seminar (1 unit) and a project based course that includes an additional hands-on workshop portion (3 units). Enrollment in the project course track is being limited to 20 students and requires completion of an application.
Please check back often as we will continue to add web page content throughout Winter quarter.
