The Toshizo Watanabe Foundation Donates $10 Million to the IUC
The Inter-University Center (IUC) for Japanese Language Studies at Stanford University announced the receipt of a $10 million endowment gift from the Toshizo Watanabe Foundation. The donation represents the largest in the 54-year history of the IUC, and establishes the Toshizo Watanabe Fellows Program, providing student scholarships for the world renowned language institute. Peter Duus, William H. Bonsall Professor of History Emeritus, Stanford University, receives the Order of the Rising Sun
The IUC congratulates Peter Duus, William H. Bonsall Professor of History Emeritus, Stanford University, on receiving the Order of the Rising Sun, Gold Rays with Neck Ribbon. This award recognizes his contribution to Japan Studies in the United States and the promotion of mutual understanding between Japan and the United States. Dr. Duus served as IUC Executive Secretary from 1974-1989. (PDF)
