Segar, Joe


Joseph Segar has lived, studied and worked throughout China off and on since 1996. In recent years, he has focused on the city of Chongqing, conducting ethnographic research on people involved in illicit work and street work. Joseph's dissertation focuses on how such individuals make and explain decisions about economic, social and private life in China's rapidly changing urban environments. He is also interested in organized crime, rural to urban migration, popular culture, and music.
