Lawrence, Georgia

Georgia received her BA in sociology and anthropology from Lewis & Clark College. After graduating, she spent five years working with public defenders and teaching labeled "at-risk" and immigrant youth in New York, Oakland, and Portland. She has approached educational and juridical systems by acting and organizing for social and criminal justice change with community-based organizations. She is particularly interested in exploring constructions and relationships between criminal justice systems, schooling, popular culture and marginalized youth in societies, as in Guatemala where she has intermittently studied over the past eight years.
