Fanya received her BA in Anthropology with a minor in Native American Studies at the University of California, Berkeley. She is interested in integrating the perspectives of Native American Studies into her Archaeological research. Research interests most pertinent to Fanya include Native American Heritage and Archaeology, the formation and legitimization of identity, intellectual property issues of indigenous peoples, and the uses of space in archaeological contexts. Her undergraduate research has centered on shell bead and lithic production at Coast Miwok and Muwekma Ohlone sites in the Greater San Francisco Bay Area. As a Stanford PhD student Fanya plans to pursue collaborative and Community Based Participatory Research projects with Native Californian Peoples.
