She also engages wonderfully with our students.”
Stanford OHS is an innovative independent secondary school that combines the academic rigor of a selective liberal arts college with the intellectual nurturing needed by adolescents. As it embarks on its 10th year, the school offers academically talented, highly motivated students in grades 7-12 a challenging curriculum and a vibrant community. All courses are conducted online in real time (synchronously), allowing students from around the world to interact with their teachers and with each other in seminar-style classes. Stanford OHS offers more accelerated, AP and university-level courses that just about any other high school in the US. It is a division of Stanford Pre-Collegiate Studies, which administers a wide range of academic programs that the university offers to middle school and high school students.
“I am delighted to be a part of Stanford Online High School.” said Janosik. “Stanford OHS is an extraordinary, vibrant community of engaged instructors, staff and students. I am happy to be working alongside students and families again. My career has come full circle in the best way possible.”
One of Janosik’s goals is to take the school to the next level and secure its sustainability for the future. “Stanford Online High School started as an experiment and convincingly proved that it can educate the most talented students from around the world through online, real-time seminars. Our students go on to some of the top universities. I look forward to moving us from start-up phase to a place where our innovation thrives alongside our financially stability.” she added.
Janosik received her A.B.in history with high honors from Oberlin College, her M.A. in history from Cleveland State University and her Ph.D. in American Social History and Policy from Case Western Reserve University. She is the author of numerous publications, including The Video Generation, a history of rock ‘n’ roll in the 1980s, and is the recipient of several awards for excellence in teaching, research, and writing.
