We invest significant resources in our continually blossoming professional development program. ACTFL training and individual lecturer professional development funds comprise a large portion of the Director’s discretionary budget. Absorbing the bulk of the cost of professional development ensures that all language instructors have opportunities for professional training.
In addition to the funds provided by the Stanford Language Center, all Stanford University employees receive $800 per year from the Staff Training Assistance Program (STAP). Lecturers may use STAP funds for course, conference, and workshop registration. There is also the Staff Tuition Reimbursement Program (STRP), in which Stanford offers $5,250 per year for tuition for employees in degree programs or for those who need to maintain matriculation while completing a degree program.
