Before we begin assessing the properties possessed by a given population sample, we must first present the data in a fashion that is understandable.

Let's use an example. This population is composed of spheres, each assigned a number. The simplest method of studying the population would be to lay out all of the members and measure them.

Another method would involve creating a histogram, a chart accounting for a number of individual observations.
