Uniform Change: Variance and Standard Deviation

Does adding a constant to the values of the individuals in a population have an effect upon the Standard Deviation and Variance?  Logically, we can surmise that a uniform change to the members of a population should have no effect upon their deviation from the Mean.

Indeed, the Standard Deviation and Variance are unchanged by the addition of a constant.
